Obituary

James C. Gemmell, Sr., of Bedminster Twp., PA, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Doylestown Hospital, Doylestown Twp., PA.  He was 90.

He was the husband of 52 years of the late Mary J. (Back) Gemmell until her passing on February 26, 2006.

Born in Sellersville, PA, he was the son of the late James and Madeline (Spindlehauer) Gemmell.  He was a 1949 graduate of Sell-Perk High School, Perkasie, PA.

Mr. Gemmell served with the U. S. Army until being honorably discharged on July 31, 1963, attaining the rank of Private.

He worked as a CDL Driver for over 30 years, most recently for BFI, until retiring in 1995.

Mr. Gemmell attended Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hilltown, PA.

An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the Great Swamp Fish & Game Club, Quakertown, PA, and a social member of the Dublin Fire Company, Dublin, PA.  He especially enjoyed farming, tractors, horses and tending to his Koi ponds.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by eight children, James C. Gemmell, Jr. and his wife Diane, of Bedminster Twp., PA, Terrance L. Gemmell and his wife Roxanne, of Telford, PA, Barry D. Gemmell and his wife Janet, of Quakertown, Michael A. Gemmell and his wife Sandra, of Bedminster, Cynthia J. Bolks and her husband Glenn, of Quakertown, Mary J. Gemmell and her husband Michael Townsend, of Quakertown, Madeline C. Sprangers and her husband Richard, of Bedminster, and Lillian J. Kleckner and her partner Gary Derstine, of Bedminster; 21 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Gemmell, in 2006.

His Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at the Bernard Suess Funeral Home, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, PA, where family and friends may call from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon.  Interment will follow in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Hilltown, PA.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Dublin Fire Company, 194 N. Main Street, Box 283, Dublin, PA  18917.
