Obituary

Wilma M. Szepanski, 93, of Telford, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at The Lutheran Community at Telford.  She was the beloved wife of the late Adolph Szepanski, Sr. who passed away in 1992.

Born in Buffalo, NY, she was the daughter of the late Ernst and Marie Forster.

Wilma graduated from Williamsville High School, Williamsville, NY where she was involved in many extracurricular activities including Searchlight, the Contata, the Operetta and student council.  She was one of the trail blazers who played on the first girls' basketball team at the school.  She then attended and graduated from Wagner College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.  Wilma was a Life Member of the Theta Pi Chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority, in which she served as treasurer and vice-president while in college.  She was also a member of Wagner College's touring choir.  After college, Wilma was employed by the United Lutheran Synod of New York and New England, working in their New York City office.  Later, Wilma assisted her husband in his dental office until the birth of their first child.

Mrs. Szepanski was a very capable homemaker, where she lovingly raised her three children.  She served as a Girl Scout Troop co-leader, and supported her children, and later her grandchildren by attending many swim meets, field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, basketball, and baseball games, along with dance performances and orchestra concerts.

Wilma was very faithful throughout her life.  She and her husband were charter members of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Willingboro NJ where she volunteered in the church office and was an active member of Lutheran Church Women, and later Women of the ELCA.  She eventually moved to Telford, PA, and became an active member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Telford, participating in Senior Ministry activities and volunteering as a bulletin collator into her 90's.  Wilma's dedication to serving others extended into the Lutheran Community at Telford, where she had been a resident for almost 25 years. Throughout her life, Wilma was an avid traveler, visiting many historical sites along the east coast of the United States as well as travelling globally.

She is survived by daughters; Suzanne McCahan and her husband William of West Chester, PA; Janet Lincoln and her husband William of Sellersville, PA, son;  A. Stephen Szepanski, Jr. and his wife Mary Anne of Downingtown, PA.   Grandchildren; Allyson, Matthew, and Zachary.
