Obituary

William G. Trauger, of Harleysville and formerly of Perkasie, PA, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at the Community at Rockhill, Sellersville, PA.  He was 97.

He was the loving husband of the late Gloria E. (Kallensee) Trauger, until her passing on October 19, 1998.

Born and raised in Perkasie, he was the son of the late Lester C. and Emma M. (Pennapacker) Trauger.  He attended Sell-Perk High School until the age of 17, at which time he joined the Navy.

A Veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater, having taken part in the liberation of the Philippines.

Bill worked for the U.S. Postal Service most of his life.  He started out delivering mail in the Perkasie area.  Following a time with the PA Turnpike Commission, he returned to the Post Office, service as a supervisor at the Doylestown post office until his retirement in 1977.

He was a life member of the Perkasie Fire Company, the National Rifle Association, the North American Hunting Club and the Academy of Model Aeronautics.

The things Bill loved the most was spending time with his family.  An avid deer hunter, he was a member of the Morwood Gun Club, Tylersport, PA.  He enjoyed working with his hands putting together wooden doll houses, lighthouses, and boats.  He also enjoyed building and flying model remote controlled airplanes.

He is survived by four children, Kerry L. Trauger, of Lehighton, PA, Susan C. Weaver and her husband Ronald, of Souderton, PA, William T. Trauger and his wife Kelly Monacella, of Harleysville, PA and Patti A. Bailey, of Telford, PA; nine grandchildren, Andi, Lyndi, Kristi, Rob, Dan, Samantha, Alex, Matthew and Megan; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gale D. Seaman, of Mechanicsburg, PA.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at the Suess-Gahman Funeral Home, Inc., 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, PA, where family and friends may  call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.  Interment with military honors will follow in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Perkasie.
