Obituary

William J. Madara 81, of Gilbertsville, passed away on suddenly at his home in New Hanover Twp. on Thursday February 2.  He was the beloved husband of 58 years to Sachiko (Kawakami) Madara.

Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late, William J. and Lillian (Beacham) Madara. William served his country in the U.S. Army during peacetime and was employed as a firefighter for the city of Philadelphia attaining the rank of Captain, serving the city for 20years before retiring in 1992. Upon his retirement William continued his service by working for the State of PA. as a Building Inspector and Fire Marshal. William enjoyed gardening and was referred to as a "Master Gardener"  he also enjoyed tending to his Koi pond, William was known for his sense of humor and he loved bargains and was known to frequent many local flea markets in search of that perfect buy, he dearly loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, William is survived by a son Tommy Madara and his wife Valerie of Telford, a daughter; Elizabeth "Betty" Madara of Fountain Hills AZ. And Grandchildren; Charlie and Alexander.

Memorial services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Memorial Contributions can be made in William's honor to the St. Joseph's Indian School, 1301 N.
