Obituary

Timothy D. Detwiler, of Hilltown Twp., passed away suddenly at his home on Sunday, July 17, 2022.  He was 68.

He was the loving husband of Nancy S. (Gulick) Detwiler.  The couple celebrated their 44 th wedding anniversary on March 11, 2022.

Born Sellersville, PA, he was the son of the late Harold Curtis Detwiler and Alice (Haberle) Detwiler-Moyer.  He was a 1971 graduate of Pennridge High School.

Tim spent 50 years working and advancing in the Aviation field.  He started at the age of 16 with Carson Helicopters, Hilltown, working for them for many years.  He went on to work for Sikorsky Helicopters which afforded him and his wife four years living abroad in Brazil.  He then worked for corporate flight departments; first for Warner Lambert followed by Johnson & Johnson where he retired in 2020 as the Chief Aircraft Inspector after 21 years of service.  Throughout the years, he earned his FAA Airframe & Power Plant Certificate with Inspection Authorization Endorsements and his Flight Safety International Master Technician in Aircrafts S-76, GIV, G450 and G550.

Working in aviation enabled two of Tim's loves: international travel and telling intricately detailed stories about his travels.  Anyone who knew him has heard at least one (likely many) escapades intermingling his avionics handiwork with cultural adventures.  His traveling and stories were kept fresh with recent trips including Hawaii and New Zealand with his wife and most recently to visit his son and family in Australia. He also enjoyed playing golf and reading.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time (and sharing his stories) with his family and especially his children and grandchildren.

Surviving with his wife are two children, Alexa Detwiler-Sullivan and her partner Ben Oglensky of Souderton, PA and Adam Detwiler and his wife Ashley, of Melbourne, Australia; three grandchildren, Paityn Jean Sullivan, Casmira Elizabeth and Cora Elizabeth Detwiler; his step father, Jeryl Moyer, of Schwenksville, PA; a brother, Philip Detwiler, of San Diego, CA and a sister, Audrey Detwiler-Hartman, of Trappe, PA and two step brothers, Darren Moyer and Blaine Moyer and his wife Rhonda and their families.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Andrew Detwiler and a sister Debi Detwiler-Pulli.

His funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, July 22, 2022 at the Bernard Suess Funeral Home, Inc.
