Thomas L. Bergen, of East Rockhill Twp. passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024 in Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Twp. PA. He was 82.
He was the loving husband of Rose A. (Heckman) Bergen. The couple would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on December 18, 2024.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late James J. and Anna C. (Cummings) Bergen.
A U.S. Marine Corps Veteran of the Vietnam War, Tom proudly served his country from 1960 to 1964, stationed in Morocco, Africa.
Tom worked as a custodian for Pennridge School District in the High School, Lower Building, for 19 years, retiring in 2004. Prior to that, he was a welder for ITE Circuit Breakers, Colmar and Philadelphia PA for over 25 years.
He was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1539, Sellersville, the Nase-Kraft American Legion Post #255, Sellersville, and a former member of the Perkasie Owls Club, Perkasie. He was also a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville.
Tom loved spending time with his family picnicking, swimming in his pool and vacationing on Long Beach Island, NJ. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed deep sea and freshwater fishing as well as crabbing. He was a loyal and passionate Eagles fan and also enjoyed the Phillies and Flyers. Tom enjoyed watching the sunset with his wife, Rose, and was entertained by the wildlife in his backyard. He loved hosting parties for his family and friends at his home. His greatest joy was his grandsons and he was proud to become a great-grandfather; he devoted time teaching them valuable life lessons that they will treasure for the rest of their lives.
Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Roseann C. Davis and her husband James, of East Rockhill Twp., PA and Cathleen M. Bergen, of Quakertown, PA; four grandchildren, James L Davis and his fiancé, Kirsten, Sean T. Davis and his fiancé, Stephanie, and twins, Landon M. and Logan N. Bergen; two great grandchildren, Harper and Addison and a brother, Joseph J. Bergen and his wife Marie, of Wellsboro, PA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James, John "Jack" and Robert Bergen and a sister, Alice Schlacter.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at the Suess-Gahman Funeral Home, Inc., 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, PA where family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will be held privately in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
