Obituary

With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Terence M.(Terry) Egan , of Neshaminy Manor, Warrington, PA and formerly of Penndel, PA, and Lumberton, NJ. Terry passed away Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Doylestown Hospital, Doylestown, PA surrounded in love by family.

Born in Philadelphia, PA on March 11, 1945, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Virginia (Clements) Egan. A 1963 graduate of St. Mary's Manor High School, Langhorne, PA., he pursued his calling in faith and education, earning a Bachelor's degree from St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in 1967, and later a Master's degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Terry dedicated more than three decades of his life to shaping young minds as a beloved History and Minority Studies teacher at Holy Cross High School in Delran, NJ, where he also served for several years as Chair of the History Department. He brought a thoughtful, inclusive approach to education that reflected his deep belief in justice, dignity, and empathy. In addition to his work at Holy Cross, Terry occasionally taught classes at Burlington County Community College, extending his passion for learning to students of all ages. His commitment to teaching was more than a profession—it was a calling. His classroom was a place where knowledge met conscience, where students were encouraged not only to understand the world, but to improve it.

In addition to the impact he had on his students, Terry will be remembered for his love of reading, music, travel (especially to the beloved Egan summer home in Bridgton, Maine), Philadelphia sports teams and his love for entertaining. He was often known as "the life of the party" and cherished hosting family and friends in his home.A man of deep integrity and unwavering faith, Terry was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Camden, NJ. His commitment to the Church and to the people of Camden was a reflection of his generous spirit and lifelong dedication to service. Even as his health declined and limited his ability to be as actively involved, his heart remained firmly rooted in the mission of the community he loved so dearly.

He is survived by a brother, Patrick M. Egan and his wife Dorothy, of Perkasie, PA; a sister, Virginia S. Egan of Quakertown, PA; a sister-in-law, Elena Egan, of Las Vegas, NV; six nieces and nephews, Suzanne, Michael (Tes), Christopher (Leeanne), Amy, Brian (Meridith), and Kristen; and six great nieces and great-nephews, Emily, Julian, Theodore, Connor, McKenna, and Fiona. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence M. Egan.
