Obituary

Stephen William Meyer Jr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and community member, passed away on March 26, 2025, at the age of 82.

Stephen is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Margaret (Murphy) Meyer; his six children, Carolyn Trumbower (Britt), Stephen III (Stephanie), William (Danielle), Christopher, Shawn (Joanne), and Megan Rosenfeld (Matthew); his 10 beloved grandchildren, Alexis, Blake, Aiden, Chase, Silas, Maggie, Gretchen, and Nora; and his sisters Rita Edwards, Diane McGuigan, and Sister Stephen Frances IHM. He was predeceased by his parents Stephen William Meyer Sr. and Frances T. Meyer (Doran), siblings Patricia, Gerald, Thomas, Kenneth, and grandchildren Paul and Emily.

Born on March 20, 1943, Stephen grew up in northeast Philadelphia, graduating from Father Judge High School in 1961. He later became a longtime resident of Churchville and Bucks County, and spent his final years in Bedminster, Upper Bucks County.

Stephen's remarkable work ethic and determination were evident from a young age. Starting as a cart boy and bagger at 14, he worked his way up to become the general manager of Shop 'n Bag. After retiring, he continued to stay active by driving a school bus until the age of 80.  He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an accomplished bowler..

To his loving wife, Margaret, he was affectionately known as "Mr. McFeely" – a nod to his penchant for being always early, with a speedy delivery that rivaled the famous Mister Rogers' character. This endearing nickname captured the essence of Stephen's thoughtful and timely nature. In a loving contrast, his wife Margaret was often fashionably late, and their opposing approaches to punctuality became a playful dynamic in their relationship.  They also loved weekly dinner dates.

Stephen's greatest joy was his family, and he was especially devoted to his grandchildren. He made it a priority to celebrate each of their birthdays in a special way, always ensuring they felt loved and cherished on their special day. He was a constant presence at their sports events.   Even in his final days, while on hospice care, Stephen's main concern was ensuring that his grandkids had a wonderful Christmas.

The Meyer family's annual Jersey Shore trips and trips to Bear Creek Village were a beloved tradition, with Stephen at the helm. He cherished these summer vacations, filled with laughter, sun-kissed memories, and quality time with his loved ones. These trips were a testament to Stephen's love for his family and his desire to create lasting memories.

In a humorous nod to his determination to live life to the fullest, Stephen was convinced that taking the supplement Hemohim would be the key to living forever. His family still chuckles at his unwavering commitment to this goal, and the many laughter-filled moments it brought to their lives.

Stephen's love for routine and being on a schedule was a hallmark of his personality.   A devout Catholic, Stephen never missed 5 o'clock mass on Saturdays.  His family and friends will deeply miss his kind heart, generous spirit, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.
