Shirley S. Sawhill of Telford, PA passed away quietly in her home on April 2, 2023.

She was the beloved wife of the late David L. Sawhill MD who preceded her in death in 2016.

Born in Swissvale PA, she was the daughter of the late Earl Kenneth and Muriel (Smith) Stroup and sister of Virginia (Jinny) Burkhard.

Before retiring Shirley was employed as an administrative assistant for the Drexel Hill United Methodist Church, Drexel Hill Pa., and the Radnor United Methodist Church in Rosemont Pennsylvania.

In her spare time, Shirley enjoyed producing musical theatricals for her church, she was a Scout Leader for her local Girl Scout Troop and was involved in both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.

She was active in re-vitalizing the playground of Rowland Elementary School in Radnor Pa.  She initiated and ran the school bookstore there as well.

Shirley loved to travel, going on camping trips with the family and with the scouts, as well as traveling abroad with friends and oceanic cruises in her later years.

Shirley is preceded in death by her sons, James Kenneth (d. 1992) and Alexander Ralston (d. 2006).  Shirley is survived by three children: Christopher S. and his wife Angel of Telford, David L. and his wife Laura of Philadelphia, and Dr. Kathryn Sawhill of Oregon; six grandchildren, Melissa, Bradley, Bethany, Emily, Marlon and Dorian; and one great-grandchild, Dani James.

Funeral Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
