Ruth A. Steeley, of Tinicum Twp., Bucks County, PA, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at the Phoebe Richland Health Care Center, Richlandtown, PA. She was 98.
She was the loving wife of 58 years of the late Harold L. Steeley until his passing on February 16, 2014.
Born in Sparta Twp., Crawford Co., PA, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Ethel (Smith) Chelton. She was a 1944 graduate of Spartansburg High School, Spartansburg, PA.
A homemaker, Mrs. Steeley lived and raised her family on the Steeley Family Dairy Farm in Tinicum Township where she loved gardening as well as canning and freezing fruits and vegetables raised there.
She was a member of Solomon's United Church of Christ, Bedminster Twp., PA, where she taught Sunday School and was active with the Woman's Guild.
The longest living member of the Ladies of the Golden Eagle, Kellers Church, PA, Mrs. Steeley was an 85-year member of the Plumsteadville Grange, Plumsteadville, PA.
She is survived by two children, Donald E. Steeley and his wife Patricia, of Ottsville, PA, and Jane D. Birk and her husband Michael, of Bethlehem, PA; and three grandchildren, Denise Conner, Donald Steeley and David Steeley.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Chelton, and three brothers, Raymond, Lyle and Neil Chelton.
Her Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Solomon's United Church of Christ, 2990 Bedminster Road, Perkasie, PA, where family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Durham Union Cemetery, Durham, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memory contributions may be made to Solomon's United Church of Christ, 2990 Bedminster Road, Perkasie, PA 18944, or to the Plumsteadville Grange Scholarship Fund, P. O. Box 335, Plumsteadville, PA 18949.
Arrangements are by the Suess-Gahman Funeral Home & Crematory, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, PA.
