December 2, 1939 – July 13, 2025
Ronald R. Banes, of Sellersville and formerly of Perkasie, PA, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in Grand View Hospital, Sellersville, PA. He was 85.
He was the loving husband of 57 years of the late Carol A. (Bradbury) Banes until her passing on April 28, 2016.
Born in Sellersville, PA, he was the son of the late George and Phina (Klinger) Banes. He was a 1958 graduate of Pennridge High School, Perkasie.
Ron served with the United States Marines from 1958 to 1961 stationed in Camp Lejeune, Jacksonville, NC.
After his time in the Marines, he worked as a Cost Accounting Manager for Anndale, Inc., Lansdale, PA for over 25 years. After that, he served as the Tax Collector for Perkasie Borough for the next 10 years. He finished his working career with the Pennridge School District, Food Service Department, delivering food to the different schools. Ron enjoyed mowing grass and being outside. He mowed for the Pennridge School District and the Pearl S. Buck Foundation, Dublin, PA.
He was a member of the Perkasie Owls Club, Nest No. 1224 and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 1539, Sellersville, PA. He was also one of the original members of the Pennridge Greenjackets Football program where he coached for over 15 years.
In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, playing fastpitch softball, an occasional game of golf, woodworking and being an all-around handyman. Above all, he was a dedicated and caring husband who took care of his wife for over 20 years as she battled her illness.
He is survived by three children, Dawn M. Campbell and her husband Kevin, of Chalfont, PA, Gary L. Banes and his wife Peggy, of Weatherly, PA, and Scott Banes and his wife Kim, of Pennsburg; five grandchildren, Morgan Rosica and her husband Johnathan, Payton Campbell, Riley Campbell, Brandon Banes and Bryanna Banes; and a brother, George Banes, of Florida.
His Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at the Suess-Gahman Funeral Home, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, PA, where family and friends may call from 9:30 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Jerusalem Union Cemetery, Almont, PA.
