Robert R.
Cole
August 25, 1930 – September 5, 2022
Robert R. Cole, formerly of Perkasie, PA, passed away Monday, September 5, 2022, at Above and Beyond at the Knights, Allentown, PA. He was 92.
He was the loving husband of 69 years of the late Kathryn Virginia (Miller) Cole until her passing on July 21, 2020.
Born near Martinsburg, WV, he was one of 13 children of the late Roy McKinnley and Viola Rebecca (Wright) Cole.
As a young man, Mr. Cole and his wife came to Pennsylvania to start a new life. He acquired a job electroplating at the former U. S. Gauge in Sellersville, PA, where he worked for 15 years. After that, he worked as a mechanic at the former Wenhold's Texaco, Perkasie, PA, and as a new car preparer at Kuhn's Oldsmobile Dealership, in Telford, PA.
His last employment before officially retiring was with Baker's Best Pretzels, Hatfield, PA. Mr. Cole enjoyed retirement for about four years before he became bored and decided to drive school buses. He drove for the Pennridge School District, Perkasie, for 10 years.
In his spare time, Mr. Cole enjoyed fishing, hunting and working outdoors. In earlier days, he was an avid NASCAR fan. He was particularly fond of watching and conversing with his son about the races. In his most recent years while residing in assisted living, he enjoyed playing bocce ball and word games, sitting outside in the sun, feeding the geese, and chatting with the other residents.
Mr. Cole was a member and Deacon of the Living Church of God, Tannersville, PA. In his earlier years, he served in various capacities including the information and resource library for the church. The children at Church especially enjoyed the rides he gave them in his electric wheelchair or scooter.
People loved his good-natured storytelling and sense of humor.
He is survived by two daughters, Deborah A. Williamson and her husband Donald, of Walnutport, PA, and Kathy S. Woodring and her wife Jane Guerino, of Allentown, PA; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Barnett, Larissa Oberly and her husband Jeffrey, and Brandalynn Woodring; six great-grandchildren, Andrew, Jadon, Trinity, Keaon, Dionte and Maleana; and two sisters, Ruth Porter, of Loveland, CO, and Doris Belford, of Inwood, WV.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert Ronald Cole, in 1999, a granddaughter, Cherie Ranee Barnett, in 2004, four brothers, Buddy, James, Theodore and Douglas, and six sisters, Ellen, Mary, Nellie, Lilly, Shirley and Peggy.
His Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 12, 2022, at the Suess-Gahman Funeral Home, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, where family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Perkasie Mennonite Cemetery, Hilltown Township, PA.
