Obituary

Ricky J. Shelly, of Perkasie, PA, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Twp., PA.  He was 66.

He was the loving husband of Donna L. (Frederick) Shelly.  The couple had celebrated their 47th Wedding Anniversary on September 25, 2023.

Born in Sellersville, PA, he was the son of the late James E. and Kathryn B. (Sharer) Shelly.

Known as "Rick the Paint Man", he was employed by Wehrung's Lumber & Home Center, Ottsville, PA, for over six years.  Previously, he worked for Shelly & Sons, Perkasie, PA, for 37 years.

Rick was such a family man. The love he shared with his wife, Donna, started when they met in elementary school. The true definition of "soul mates"! As a Dad, and Pee-pop, he was the BEST of the BEST! His favorite pastime was to be out in nature, hiking and exploring the beauty around him with the ones he loved. This was us, how we spent time together, and made awesome memories that we will never forget. He was always such an adventurer. He lived out some of his dreams early in life with his wife traveling across country for a month after they wed, and experiencing many national parks throughout their journey. Later in life they enjoyed cruisin on his motorcycle and jammin out to their favorite tunes, and inevitably end up on a mountain or woods somewhere hiking. Rick was a very creative man, and showed this with his talents with art, music, and cooking. He made the BEST dinners. As a younger man, he was an extreme skydiver, and an avid skier and golfer. Rick had many passions, but music was his "thing"! He wasn't necessarily a "rockstar" himself, but loved playing the guitar and keyboard and even writing some songs. His daughter was his side/kick and singer when she was young girl, and still  remembers the lyrics to the songs. So, when Rick fell in love with a band, he was their #1 fan! He had so many fun years "Flamin out" with our local blues band, Flamin' Harry. For the last few years he has been a huge fan of "Blackberry Smoke". He has been to every show they have played in the tri-state area, and had one of his dreams come true when he got a "meet and greet" for a gift. Last but not least,….Rick was a great friend, and had the BEST of friends! He was such a kind, humble, and simple guy. He was so loved and will be missed by so many. Until we meet again…….PEACE & LOVE
