Obituary

Richard J. "Skip" Weiss, of Perkasie, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Twp., PA.  He was 90.

He was the loving husband of 53 years of the late Patricia Ann (Mann) Weiss until her passing on November 5, 2010.

Born in Nanticoke, PA, he was the son of the late Francis and Matilda (Yodis) Weiss.  A 1950 graduate of Nanticoke High School, Nanticoke, he attained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education from Wilkes College (now Wilkes University), in 1960.

Mr. Weiss was a proud U. S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, serving a 16-month deployment there as an Army Corpsman and Mechanic.

Following his service, he worked for the National Biscuit Company, Niagara Falls, NY, where he met his future wife, Patricia.

Mr. Weiss was employed as a history and psychology teacher at the Souderton Area High School, Souderton, PA, from 1961 until retiring in 1988.  He also enjoyed the status of serving as the Head Wrestling Coach at the high school for many years.

A former member of the Board for the Perkasie Borough Water Authority, he enjoyed traveling, going to the casino, and reading maps.

He is survived by four children, Richard F. Weiss and his wife Michelle, of Warrington, PA, James F. Weiss and his wife Lynda, of Quakertown, PA, Mary E. Chase and her husband Albert, of Coopersburg, PA, and Keith J. Weiss and his wife Denise, of Ephrata, PA; eight grandchildren; his brother, Michael Weiss and his wife Ann, of Gordonsville, PA, and his sister-in-law, Joyce Lanigan of Black Mt., NC.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William, and a sister, Patricia.

Services and interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
