Richard Baker,
Sr.
December 26, 1944 – October 28, 2024
Richard Baker, Sr., of Green Lane, PA, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024, in the Hospice House of St. Luke's VNA, Bethlehem, PA.
He was the loving husband of the late Patricia (Jurin) Baker.
Born in Sellersville, PA, Richard was a son of the late Winfield and Madeline (Powell) Baker.
Mr. Baker was employed as an Auto Body Mechanic throughout his life, most recently for Bill Flannery Auto Body Materials, Telford, where he had worked for 7 years.
In his spare time, Mr. Baker enjoyed cars and participated in super gas drag racing at many local drag strips. He also found thrill in dirt car racing with his brother John and his sons; Richard, Jr., Steve, and Bubba, at Grandview, Nazareth and Reading Racetracks. He also enjoyed restoring and competing in vintage Outlaw Dirt car racing for the last 2 years.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Susan Baker Bywaters and her husband Ronald, of Schwenksville, PA, sons; Stephen Baker and his wife Beth, of Royersford, PA, Richard Jr. and his wife Bobbi of Quakertown, PA, Anthony Baker, of Raymond NH, Brian "Bubba" Baker and his wife Erika, of Lansdale, PA, and Jeremy McCarty and his wife Jennifer, of Trumbauersville, PA; grandchildren, Stephanie, Brandon, Christopher, Allison, Angela, Ashley, James, Mackenzie, Brayden, Ryan, Logan and Hailey and great grandchildren, Addison, Brynnley, Owen, Christopher, Mason, Noah, Sophia, Johnny, Matthias, and Maren. Richard is also survived by brothers; Winfield Baker of Sellersville, PA, John Baker of Bechtelsville, PA, sisters, Lenore Dansereau of Perkasie, PA, and Bonnie Houck of Kennett Square, PA.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024 at 11 AM in the Sadler-Suess Funeral Home, 33 N. Main St., Telford, PA, 18969. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11 AM, prior to the service. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Hospice House of St. Luke's VNA 2455 Black River Road, Bethlehem, PA. 18015
