Richard Allen Singer, of New Holland, PA, and formerly of Souderton, PA, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2026. He was 79.
He was the husband of nearly 45 years of the late Priscilla Lynn (Lohse) Singer from the time of their marriage on May 30, 1970, in Hilltown, PA, until her passing on May 11, 2015.
Born in Norristown, PA, on January 29, 1947, he was the son of the late Raymond F. Singer, Sr. and the late Doris E. (Hitchens) Morgans. A 1965 graduate of Methacton High School, Eagleville, PA, where he was a member of the school’s undefeated football team, he attained his Associate’s Degree in Police Science from Montgomery County Community College, Blue Bell, PA.
Rich was a proud U.S. Army Veteran having served as a military policeman in the 1st Infantry Division in Vietnam from 1967-1968.
He served as a Police Officer with the Lansdale Borough Police Department for 12 years, and he was a founding member of the North Penn Area Tactical Response Team. He owned a 7-Eleven in New Britain for 10 years before he drove school bus, and then worked for Marvic Supply Company, Doylestown, PA, for 16 years, first as a driver and then in sales until retiring in 2013 as a Branch Manager.
Rich was a former Post Commander of VFW Post No. 32 in Lansdale, and President of Lansdale’s Fraternal Order of Police. Over the years, he volunteered as a fireman with the West Point Volunteer Fire Company, West Point, PA, and served as President of Lansdale Catholic High School’s Fathers’ Club. He helped to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and organized a golf tournament fundraiser for MDA for nine years. He was a President & Road Captain of the Coopersburg Harley Owners Group. Rich enjoyed calling bingo at Spring Valley Village and Garden Spot Village. An outdoors enthusiast, he loved golfing, riding his Harley, hunting, fishing, and camping, especially to Florida and Maine. He also enjoyed entertaining, hosting pig roasts, and playing poker. He was a member of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hilltown, PA.
Surviving are a son, Kristopher A. Singer and his wife Tara of Collegeville, PA; a daughter, Rebecca Lynn Sullenberger and her husband Josh, of Lower Pottsgrove, PA; three granddaughters, Lauren Priscilla and Ella Marie Singer, and Genevieve Marie Sullenberger; a brother, Raymond E. Singer, Jr., of Bremerton WA; a half-brother, David P. Singer, of New Jersey; and his significant other, Sharon Miller, of New Holland, PA. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Sandra Singer.
His Funeral Mass with Military Honors will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Route 100 Broad Street, Hilltown, PA, where family and friends may call from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon.
Memorial Services to be held at Garden Spot Village, New Holland, PA, will be announced at a later date.
Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
