Richard R. Saylor, 84, of Perkasie, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2024. He was the beloved husband of 64 years to Gladys (Rumler) Saylor.
Born in Spring City, PA, he was a son of the late Charles and Martiel (George) Saylor.
Mr. Saylor was a member of Berean Bible Church Pottstown. He attended and graduated from Springford High School, where he played quarterback, for their football team. This was their first since Spring city HS and Royersford High Schools merged. He later attended Ursinus college where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in education. He then attended Temple University where he had attained his master's degree.
Mr. Saylor was a long-time educator for the Souderton Area School District, teaching at the former Lower Salford Elementary School, then Indian Valley Middle School, teaching for 36years before retiring in 1996. Mr. Saylor also worked as an educator for the State Correctional Institute Graterford as well. Mr. Saylor was also employed at the post office in Mainland Pa, where he had served as relief postmaster for over 18 years.
An avid stamp collector, he also enjoyed playing golf.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Joel and his wife Karen, of Limerick, PA. James, of Perkasie. PA, three daughters, Pamela Manny and her husband Ken, of Shinglehouse, PA, Paula Moyer and her husband Terry, also of Shinglehouse, PA and Carlotta Vogt and her husband Christian, of Hatfield, PA. He is also survived by "lots" of grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers Robert, Donald, and Charles and a sister Elaine.
Celebration of Life Services will be held, privately at the convenience of the family.
