Obituary

Richard F. Rickert, of Hilltown Twp., PA, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2022, at his home.  He was 89.

He was the loving husband of 58 years of the late Doris (Dunlap) Rickert until her passing on November 9, 2018.

Born in Morwood, PA, he was the son of the late Valentine and Mary (Fretz) Rickert.  He was a 1952 graduate of Souderton High School, Souderton, PA.

Mr. Rickert was a proud U. S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1953 to 1955.

He owned and operated greenhouses at his home where he sold plants as well as at the Zern's Farmers' Market in Gilbertsville, PA, from the 1970's through the 2000's.  He also was employed as a machinist by AMETEK, Inc., U. S. Gauge Division, Sellersville, PA, from 1955 until retiring there in 1998.

Mr. Rickert was a member of St. Michael's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sellersville.

A boating enthusiast in his younger years, he also enjoyed water skiing on the Delaware River in the Upper Black Eddy, PA, area.

He is survived by six children, Dr. Dawn M. Rickert and her husband Alexander Salak, of New Hope, PA, Timothy S.  Rickert and his wife Dr. Christina, of Quakertown, PA, Robin L. Batista and her husband Enrique, of Conestoga, PA, Steven M. Rickert and his wife Shannon, of Pottstown, PA, Tara N. Garnett and her husband Joseph, of Harleysville, PA, and Brooke C. Martin and her husband David, of Souderton, PA; and 14 grandchildren, Nicole and Michael Salak, Cole and Lucas Rickert, Marisa, Julisa and Enrique G. Batista, Chase, Jordyn and Brody Rickert, and Alyssa, Ryan, Bryce and Jayden Martin.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn D. Rickert, and a sister, Geraldine O'Connell.

Services with interment in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA, will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
