Richard A. "Mit" Mitman, of Sellersville, PA, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2023, at the Community at Rockhill, West Rockhill Twp., PA. He was 84.
He was the loving husband of Cecilia M. (Field) Mitman. The couple had celebrated their 51st Wedding Anniversary on May 19, 2023.
Born in Sellersville, he was the son of the late Abram and Dorothy (Artman) Mitman. He was a 1957 Graduate of Pennridge High School, Perkasie, PA.
Richard was employed in the Marketing Department at Capital Controls Co., Colmar, PA, for 48 years until retiring.
He served with the Pennsylvania National Guard, 228th Division, Sellersville, PA, during the 1960's.
Richard was a 60-year life member of the Sellersville Fire Company. An avid NASCAR fan, he enjoyed hunting in his early years. A sports enthusiast, he loved fishing, football and baseball and was a dedicated fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles.
He loved the beach and was particularly fond of trips to Ocean City, NJ, and the couple's time share in St. Maarten. He enjoyed working outside, gardening and tending to his aviary and birds.
He is survived by two daughters, Yvonne Johnson, of Milford Twp., PA, and Dawn Marie Mitman, of Emmaus, PA; a stepdaughter, Lisa Snider and her husband Lawrence, of West Rockhill Twp., PA,; four grandchildren, Brent Long and his wife Samantha, of Center Valley, PA, Alicia Faucette and her husband Nathan, of Souderton, PA, Ryan Johnson, of Milford Twp., PA, and Bryce Knoll, of Emmaus; two step grandchildren, Ashley McClennen and her husband Kevin, of Royersford, PA, and Joshua Snider, of Telford, PA; two great-grandchildren, Tanner and Sawyer Long; and a step great-grandchild, Finn McClennen. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Mitman.
Funeral services and interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sellersville Fire Co., P. O. Box 315, Sellersville, PA 18960.
