Raymond Rosenberger
June 11, 1930—August 6, 2023
Dusting off his dancing shoes, Raymond Rosenberger is now reunited with his wife, Myra, who passed away in June. Born in Doylestown, PA, Ray was the son of Albert and Rella Rosenberger. He attended Girard College school for boys before transferring to Doylestown High School, where he was a standout athlete in track, baseball, football, and basketball. Shortly after graduation, he joined the Air Force and was stationed in Newfoundland, where he met and married Myra. Returning stateside, he honed his construction and masonry skills—crediting his friends Larry and Anthony for their guidance and help as he started his home-building business. They were good buddies for many years back when people simply dropped by for a visit and a night out involved getting together with everyone's wives and playing cards.
Along the way, he enjoyed years of ballroom dancing as co-founder of the Swingalongs dance club in Bucks County and later as a ballroom dance instructor at Lehigh Valley Active Life. In Weisenberg Township, he established the Environmental Advisory Council—spearheading efforts to create Weisenberg Township Park and helping with the Open Space Preservation and Adopt-a-Road programs—and was later honored for his 21 years of volunteer service. Ray loved road trips with his wife and four daughters to visit relatives—often stopping at an A&W to get his Papa Burger. He's also known for inadvertently ordering the most expensive pastries twice on the same ride—almost enough to pay for a night's hotel—while traveling by rail in Europe with Myra. Think of Ray when you see slapstick comedy, watch Scent of a Woman with Al Pacino (Hoo-ah!), or indulge in a fuzzy navel.
Ray is survived by his daughters Janice Urffer, Rhonda Manduke, and Sonia Sommers (Tom), a son, Doug Crane, from an earlier marriage, and a son-in-law, Brian Turner. He also leaves behind beloved brothers Roy, Herb, and Dale with whom he enjoyed family picnics, visits, and a mean game of chess; brother-in law, Harold Robbins, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by an infant son, Christian; his daughter, Wendy Turner; and siblings, AlbertJr. (Sonny), Mart, and Peg. Thanks to those who visited Ray at the hospital and at the Community at Rockhill over the past two months or who helped in other ways. Also, thanks to Tom for his companionship, keeping Ray up to date with the Phillies triumphs and losses, and for taking him to all those games over the years.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no formal services. A family gathering will be planned at a later date.
Arrangements are by Sadler-Suess Funeral Home, 33 N. Main Street Telford, PA.
