Priscilla Lane
Petty
July 19, 1929 – February 6, 2025
Cherished mother, sister and friend, Priscilla VanDerlyn Wells Ridout Lane Petty, sadly passed away on February 6th at the age of 95 after a sudden illness. She was a fun, wonderful mother who was always there when needed the most, offering support, wisdom, and most importantly, love.
Priscilla was born on July 19, 1929 and raised in New Rochelle, NY by her late parents William Damish Wells and Gertrude Elizabeth (VanDerlyn) Wells. Once married, she was a devoted mother and homemaker, raising three children and caring for her homes. She was an avid sewer, making décor for the home, and outfits for the family. She also loved knitting, crochet, and ceramics. She enjoyed gardening and walking outside and you would always find a good mystery book next to her favorite chair. Priscilla loved boating and being near water in general. Living in many states along the east coast, she was always happy to be close to the shore.
Priscilla was preceded in death by her first husband Robert C. Ridout and by her beloved second husband, Robert A. C. Lane, affectionately known as "RA". She is survived by her three children, William Robert Ridout (wife Cindy), Craig Wells Ridout, and Linda Ann (husband Marv McKown). Priscilla was "Granny" to six grandsons: Dan (wife Katie), Adam (wife Malorie), and Will (wife Emily) Ridout, and Bill (wife Michelle), Brian and Tim McKown as well as eleven great grandchildren! She is also survived by an older sister Barbara (Wells) Sykas and a younger brother William D. Wells, Jr.
Priscilla always enjoyed a good party or family gathering and a good Manhattan! She had a boisterous laugh, and all will dearly miss hearing it. The family will celebrate her life privately along a bay this summer. In lieu of flowers or plants, condolences can be expressed through a gift to your local Hospice organization.
