Paul W. Sterner, of Ottsville, PA, passed away suddenly at his home on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, just two weeks before his 80th birthday.
He was the husband of almost 31 years of the late Jacqualine "Jackie" Sterner until her passing on February 7, 2025.
Born in Sellersville, PA and raised in Bedminster, PA, he was the son of the late Granville and Dorothy (Sine) Sterner. He was a 1963 graduate of Pennridge High School. He went on to graduate from the Barber School in Philadelphia.
Paul worked as a barber most of his life, owning Sterner's Barber Shop, Ottsville, PA for 57 years, retiring in 2020. Paul enjoyed conversing with his customers in the barbershop and listening to their many stories. He felt honored to know so many generations of families through being a barber.
Music was a big part of Paul's life. At the age of 12, he was asked to sing "Here Rattler Here" on radio station WSAN, Allentown. Soon after, he played the drums for the Tex Carson Band. An avid guitar player, he played with his brother Bill as well as many other family members in several bands in the area including the 4 Gents, Shadow of El and the Tributes and the New Wind Band. He continued to solo as New Wind. In his free time, he loved classic cars and owned a 1969 Buick.
He is survived by two daughters, Michele Hughes and her husband Michael of Cape May Court House, NJ, and Wendy Mang her husband John, of Perkasie, PA; a stepson, John P. Killen and his fiancée Abigail Lutz, of Norristown, PA; five grandchildren, Dylan and Jessa Hughes, and Serena, Veronica and Phoebe Mang; three step grandchildren, Michael Killen, and twin grandsons, Evan and Declan Killen; and a brother, William Sterner and his wife Allison, of Collegeville, PA. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Clifford Sterner.
His funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at the Suess-Gahman Funeral Home & Crematory, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, PA, where family and friends may call from 11:00 – 12:00 PM. Interment will follow in Kellers Church Cemetery, Kellers Church, PA.
