Patricia M. Madara, of Sellersville, PA, passed away Saturday, December 7, 2024, at her daughter's residence in Perkasie, PA. She was 89.
She was the loving wife of the late John H. Madara until his passing on February 18, 1983.
Born in Perkasie, she was the daughter of the late Robert Dewey and Eva K. (Harr) Leister. She attended Sell-Perk High School, Perkasie.
Mrs. Madara was first employed with the former Delbar Co., Perkasie, where she met her husband. Then she worked for her brother as a woodworker in his business, Wood Service Co., Perkasie, PA. She continued working for the company when it was sold and renamed Oakworks for a combined 15 years until retiring there in 1995. Then, she worked at the Burger King, Souderton, PA, for nine years until her retirement.
She was a long-time member of St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, Perkasie, where she taught Sunday school for many years and was active with Community Outreach.
Mrs. Madara had a love for country line dancing, boasting an appearance on the "Wild Horse Saloon Dance Show" in Nashville, TN. She especially enjoyed trips to the casinos and "all-things Elvis". An avid baker, she was active with the "SilverSneakers" health and fitness program. She will be remembered for always being "on-the-go", referring to herself as "an old runaround".
She is survived by her daughter, Wendy H. Bosco and her husband Richard, of Perkasie; her son, John David Madara, of Sellersville, PA; two grandchildren, Geena and Jeffrey Bosco; and a brother, John B. Leister and his wife Fay, of Idaho. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Sue "Patty" Madara, in 2019, three brothers, Richard B. Leister, J. Robert Leister, and David B. Leister; a sister, May K. Leister; and her long-time companion, Robert Holzerman.
Her Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at the Suess-Gahman Funeral Home & Crematory, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, PA, where family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at 2:30 PM on Thursday at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Prospectville, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, 110 N. Sixth Street, Perkasie, PA 18944.
