Geyer - Service Announcement
August 31, 1935 – March 28, 2024
Otto E. Geyer, of Hilltown Twp., PA, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Hidden Meadows On The Ridge, Sellersville, PA. He was 88.
He was the loving husband of Edna Y. (Yoder) Geyer, who passed away on July 14, 2007.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late John and Elisabeth (Schwaiger) Geyer. He was a 1953 graduate of Hilltown High School. He went on to attend the Spring Garden Institute, Philadelphia, PA.
He served with the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960, stationed in San Francisco, CA.
Following his service in the Army, he went to work as a Structural Steel Draftsman for the Frank M. Weaver Steel Company Lansdale for over 30 years until retiring in 1992. During his time there, he was instrumental in drawing the steel blueprints for the many of the casinos in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
In 1971, Otto and his wife built their first greenhouse at their home and started Geyer's Greenhouse, growing and selling flowers and plants for the next 45 years until retiring in 2018.
He was a member of St. Andrew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perkasie, PA, where he served on church council, was Sunday School Superintendent and was a board member of the St. Andrew's Union Cemetery. He also served as Vice President of the Executive Board of the Lutheran Community at Telford for many years.
In addition to his plants, Otto enjoyed wood working. In his earlier years, he was active with the Drum Corps International, having been a member of the Musketeers Drum and Bugle Corp.
He is survived by three children, Stanley Robert Garis and his wife Marie, of Orange Park, FL, Julie Moser and her husband Russell, of Camden, ME and Brian Geyer and his wife Rhonda, of Hilltown Twp., PA; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Brent Garis.
His funeral service will he held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at St. Andrew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 20 Dill Avenue, Perkasie, PA, where family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in St. Andrew's Union Cemetery, Perkasie, PA.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Society for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, 11350 McCormick Road, Hunt Valley, MD 21031 or St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 20 Dill Avenue, Perkasie, PA 18944.
Arrangements are by the Sadler-Suess Funeral Home & Crematory, Telford, PA.
