Obituary

Nelson F. "Bud" Hollenbach, Jr., of Perkasie, PA, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2022, at Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Twp., PA.  He was 89.

He was the loving husband of the late Barbara Ann (Collins) Hollenbach for 58 years until her passing on May 7, 2018.

Born in Perkasie, he was the son of the late Nelson F. Sr. and Henrietta (Herstine) Hollenbach.  He was a 1950 graduate of Sell-Perk High School, Perkasie.

He was a proud U. S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, serving in Okinawa, Japan, as a Morse Code Interceptor.

Nelson began his professional career with the former EMICO Co. and the former Freed Glass Factory, both in Perkasie, before his employment as a Firefighter with the Federal Government Department of Defense, stationed at the Naval Shipyard in Philadelphia, PA, for many years.  His main assignment was as the driver of the rear apparatus on the Tiller Fire Trucks.  He also worked as a school bus driver for the Pennridge School District, Perkasie, for many years.

He was a member of St. Michael's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sellersville, PA.

Nelson was very active in the Pennridge Community where he was a life member and long-time Secretary of the Perkasie Fire Company.  A Life Member of the Bucks County Fire Chiefs Association, he taught American Red Cross First Aid and CPR classes over the years.  He served on the Perkasie Borough Parks & Recreation Committee and Planning Commission, and he was instrumental in founding and raising funds to build the Perkasie Dog Park.

He was a member of the VFW Forrest Lodge No. 245, Sellersville, as well as the Warren Royer American Legion Post No. 234, Souderton, PA.  In earlier years, he was a parent volunteer for the drum corps to which his children belonged.  An O & G Gauge Model Train enthusiast, he loved the family camping trips and spending summers in Cape May, NJ.   And, in his free time, he enjoyed solving crossword puzzles.

He is survived by two sons Dennis L. Hollenbach and his wife Anita, of Perkasie, and Dwyane L. Hollenbach and his wife Emily of American Fork, UT; eight grandchildren, James Parsons, Jr. and his wife Victoria, Faith Dieffenbach and her husband Justin, Jason Hollenbach and his wife Norma, Jessica Weigle and her husband James, Julianna Hollenbach, Gabriel Hollenbach, Rebekah Hollenbach and Benjamin Hollenbach; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna L. Prisnock, on June 22, 2017.
