Myra
Rosenberger
September 17, 1933 – June 8, 2023
Before there was Dancing with the Stars, there was Myra Rosenberger, dancer extraordinaire. Born in St. John's, Newfoundland to Ralph and Beatrice Mercer, Myra excelled in school, graduated early, then worked briefly in a law firm before being swept off her feet by a Yank in Air Force blues. During her nearly 70-year marriage to Raymond Rosenberger, she raised four daughters in Bucks County and managed her husband's private homebuilding business. When her youngest was college-bound, she returned to school, earning an Associate of Arts degree with a 3.9 GPA. Soon after, she began a 10-year stint in sales and customer service at Bamberger's/Macy's—jobs that she thoroughly enjoyed.
All the while, she was honing her dancing skills and completed Bronze through Gold certifications with extra classes in international styling. That led to founding The Swingalongs dance club, which she ran with her husband for many years. After moving to Lehigh County with a view of beautiful Blue Mountain, she and Ray became longtime dance teachers at Lehigh Valley Active Life. There they instructed many happy students in ballroom and line dancing—occasionally welcoming a grandson or granddaughter into a class. Additionally, Myra and Ray regularly participated in Cedar Crest College's Institute for Learning in Retirement programs. In the midst of all this, Myra always managed to be reading a new book, listening to her favorite classical music, and remembering everyone's birthday.
Fond of a great discussion, a good laugh, and a high-end drink, Myra will be sorely missed and forever loved. Besides her husband Ray, she is survived by her daughters Janice Urffer, Rhonda Manduke, and Sonia Sommers (Tom); a son-in-law, Brian Turner; and 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, as well as a brother-in-law, Harold Robbins, in Austin, Texas, and nieces and nephews scattered across Canada and in Ocala, Florida. She was predeceased by an infant son, Christian; her daughter, Wendy Turner; and six siblings. Special thanks to her neighbor and friend Roger for help over the years.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no formal services. A family gathering will be planned at a later date. Raise a glass to kindness, intelligence, and a life well lived.
