Obituary

            Monroe Hunsberger, Jr., formerly of Perkasie, PA, passed away Monday, August 24, 2026, at the Community at Rockhill, West Rockhill Twp., PA. He was 88.

            He was the loving husband of Barbara G. (Geiger) Hunsberger. The couple had celebrated their 66th Wedding Anniversary on May 14, 2026.

            Born in Bedminster Twp., PA, he was the son of the late Monroe N. and Mabel (Gahman) Hunsberger.

            A proud U. S. Army Veteran, he served with the U.S. Army Reserves from 1964 to 1966 as well as the Pennsylvania Army National Guard Company 228th Support & Transportation Battalion from 1960 to 1961.

            Mr. Hunsberger began his long-time career as a meat cutter with the former C. D. Moyer Co., Silverdale, PA, where he worked for 20 years. From 1972 to 1979, he owned and operated The Olde Time Butcher Shop, in Lansdale, PA. Then, he worked for a number of years for the Alderfer Meat Co., Harleysville, PA, before his eight-year employment with Hatfield Quality Meats, Hatfield, PA. Following that, he worked as a custodian for the Pennridge School District at the Guth Elementary School, Perkasie, PA, for 14 years until retiring in 2004.

            He was a former member of St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Perkasie, PA, where he served on the Church Consistory as both Deacon and Elder and taught Sunday school.

            Mr. Hunsberger was a life member of the Perkasie Fire Company where he was a former Assistant Chief and belonged to the Brunna Butzers. He also had volunteered a number of years with the Perkasie Ambulance. He was a member of the Grundsow Lodge No. 9 of Deep Run where he served as President “Haptman” for 27 years.

            In addition to woodworking and gardening, he especially enjoyed traveling in his RV, notably to all 50 States including Alaska.

            Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Brenda Hunsberger and her wife Patti Boote, of West Chester, PA, and Crystal Badgley and her husband Al, of Haines, AK; three grandchildren, Nicholas Kapusta and his wife Lauren, Hunter Badgley and his husband Spencer Davidson, and Dr. Serena Badgley and her fiancé Cameron Bailey; a great-granddaughter, Cedar Badgley; three brothers, David Hunsberger and his wife Melissa, of Lebanon, NH, Titus Hunsberger and his wife Diane, of Lancaster, PA, and Mark Hunsberger and his wife Linda, of Missouri; three sisters, Mabel Myers and her husband Norman, of Perkasie, PA, Pearl Yoder, of Wellman, IA, and Edith Randolph, of Sellersville, PA.

            In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Valene Hill, in 2021; four brothers, Millard, Lester, Nelson and Glenn Hunsberger; and two sisters, Emma Jane Andersen and Lorraine Christophel; and, in infancy, Marie and Merle Hunsberger.

            His Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the Community at Rockhill Multi-Purpose Room, 3250 State Road, Sellersville, PA, where family and friends may call from 9:30 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ Cemetery, Perkasie, PA.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community at Rockhill Benevolent Fund, 3250 State Road, Sellersville, PA 18960.
