Michael Joseph
Schlitz
September 7, 1941 – October 2, 2025
Michael Joseph Schlitz, age 84, of Perkasie, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025.
Born on September 7, 1941, at Grand View Hospital in Sellersville, Pennsylvania, Michael lived a full and hardworking life centered around family, friendship, and his love for all things mechanical. He graduated from Pennridge High School.
He owned an autobody repair shop for more than 50 years in Perkasie and Richlandtown, PA.
Known affectionately by his family as "Uncle Mike," he was always willing to lend a hand, share a story, or offer advice from his years of experience. Michael had a lifelong passion for automobile repair, a craft he took great pride in and enjoyed sharing with others. His curiosity and ambition also led him to earn his pilot's license early in life, prominent motorcycle ventures, building furniture, and restoring cars; thus, fulfilling a longtime dream that reflected his adventurous spirit.
Michael was Catholic and carried with him the values of compassion, humility, and dedication that shaped how he treated others. He is remembered by many as the one who taught them the craft of autobody work and allowed them to use his shop to learn. He was also an avid Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies, and Flyers fan.
He is survived by his three children Donna Schlitz-Duna (East Greenville), Michele Kehoe wife of Michael (Perkasie), Ronald Schlitz (Pottsville); and his six grandchildren Andrew Duna, Jessica Beidler, Caitlin Hoover, Zachary Duna, Christofer Kehoe, and Jared Kehoe; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Schlitz, and sister, Teresa Pradel, along with many nieces and nephews that held a special place in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents Catherine (Buchner) and Urban Schlitz, along with his siblings Christopher Schlitz, Sarah Fox, Catherine Mandic.
Michael will be remembered for his generosity, humor, and unwavering love for his family. He was a kind and generous man, helping a lot of young aspiring autobody mechanics at his shop. His presence and spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
His family is holding a private service and a celebration of life at a to-be-determined date/time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Michael's memory to Mike Rowe Works Foundation at www.mikeroweworks.org
Arrangements are by the Suess-Gahman Funeral Home & Crematory, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, PA.
