Obituary

Lloyd D. Weitzel, formerly of Quakertown, Elizabethtown, and Red Hill, PA, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2026, at The Windsor, Palm Coast, FL.  He was 85.

He was the loving husband of Rachel A. (Fox) Weitzel.  The couple had celebrated their 62nd Wedding Anniversary on August 17, 2025.

Born in Quakertown, PA, he was the son of the late Harry and Florence (Diehl) Weitzel.  He was a 1959 graduate of Kenwood High School, Baltimore, MD.

Mr. Weitzel was a proud U. S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the ASA Security Agency and was stationed in Germany during his enlistment from 1963 until his honorable discharge in 1966.

He owned and operated Bearn Electric, Quakertown, PA, for 30 years until retiring in 1988.  Following his retirement, he worked as the head custodian for the Quakertown Community School District at the former Tohickon Valley Elementary School for a number of years until retiring there.

Mr. Weitzel was a member of the American Legion Post No. 242, Quakertown, PA, as well as the East Rockhill Lions Club.  An avid gardener, he enjoyed freshwater fishing and watching television Westerns, especially "Gunsmoke".  And, he raised his own turkeys for Thanksgiving meals for family and friends over the years.

Surviving with his wife are two children, David C. Weitzel, of Pittsburgh, PA, and Susan M. Devlin and her husband Michael, of Palm Coast, FL; three grandchildren, Shane Devlin and his fiancée Alexandria Ringer, Jonah Weitzel and his wife Alyssa, and Nica Devlin; a great-grandchild, Carter Bisbing; three sisters, Doris Weitzel, of Baltimore, MD, Shirley Bach, of Essex, MD, and Cathy King and her husband Bernie, of Rosedale, MD; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Weitzel.

Graveside Services with interment and military honors will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
