Lester M. Goldthorp, of Perkasie, PA, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2023 at the Community at Rockhill, Sellersville, PA.  He was 85.

He was the loving husband of 55 years of Joan C. (Cowman) Goldthorp, who passed away on April 2, 2017.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Lester M. and Florence (Fox) Goldthorp.  A 1956 graduate of Quakertown High School he went on to earn his Bachelors of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University in 1962.

Lester began his career as an electrical engineer working for Bendix in 1962 then Leeds and Northrop Company, Philadelphia during the 1970's.  From 1981 to 1995, he was employed by the Aydin Corporation, Horsham, PA.  After that, he worked for Prudential Gross & Associates, Perkasie, PA selling real estate in the area until retiring in 2012.

He was a Life Member of the Perkasie Fire Company.  After joining the fire company in August of 1977, he served with the firefighting and ambulance units.  Over the years, he served as President, Trustee and on numerous committees.  In 2023, he was awarded the William Baringer Lifetime Achievement Award.

A member of the Haycock Historical society, he enjoyed gardening, model railroading and carpentry.

He is survived by two sons, Jeffery M. Goldthorp and his wife Olga, of Fredericksburg, VA and Douglas J. Goldthorp and his wife Fay, of Perkasie, PA; a grandson, Graham Goldthorp, of Washington, D.C.; a brother, David Goldthorp and his wife Marty, of Reading, PA; a sister, Marjorie Fulp and her husband, Dr. Charles Fulp, of East Rockhill Twp. and his cat Harry.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at the Suess-Gahman Funeral Home, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, PA, where family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.  Interment will follow in Kellers Church Cemetery, Kellers Church, PA.
