Buchanan
September 28, 1943 – June 5, 2024
Kenneth J. Buchanan, of Hilltown Twp. and formerly of Dublin, PA, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at his home. He was 80.
He was the loving husband of 58 years of the late Martha Jane (Huber) Buchanan until her passing on December 8, 2020.
Born in Ambler, PA, he was the son of the late James and Sylvania (Urbach) Buchanan.
Mr. Buchanan worked as a foreman for the Haines & Kibblehouse Co. at its various quarry locations, primarily in Blooming Glen, PA, over the course of his 30+-year career with the company before retiring in 2016.
He was a dedicated Life Member of the Dublin Fire Company where he served as Assistant Chief and volunteered with the ambulance squad. When his sons were young, he coached baseball with the Deep Run Valley Sports Association in Hilltown, PA.
Mr. Buchanan was a model train enthusiast, designing his own layout of O Gauge as well as standard model trains. He also loved trips to Ocean City, NJ.
He is survived by a son, Jay Buchanan, of Long Beach, CA; nine grandchildren, Bradley Buchanan and his wife Moira, of Lansdale, PA, Brook Buchanan and his wife Anne, of Fairport, NY, Kyle Buchanan and his wife Carlie, of Schwenksville, PA, Ryan Buchanan and his wife Jenna, of Perkasie, PA, Sheena Buchanan and her companion Brian Happel, also of Perkasie, and Nathan, Tara, Jade and Paige Buchanan, all of Long Beach, CA; nine great-grandchildren, Cian, Maeve, Vera, Connor, Jameson, Jaxon, Rylie, Aubrey and Karlee; and a brother, Brian Buchanan and his wife Doris, of Sellersville, PA.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Sean Buchanan, in 2004, and Dane Buchanan, in 2007, a daughter, Leanne Buchanan, in 2022, a daughter-in-law, Janice Buchanan, in 2005, and a brother, Richard Buchanan, in 2022.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at the Suess-Gahman Funeral Home & Crematory, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, PA. Interment will follow in St. Luke's Union Cemetery, Dublin, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dublin Fire Company, 194 N. Main Street, Box 283, Dublin, PA 18917.
