Obituary

Karen McClellan Kern, of East Rockhill Twp., PA, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at Grand View Health, West Rockhill Twp.  She was 75.

She was the loving wife of William P. "Willy" Hunsicker.

Born in Carlisle, PA, she was the daughter of the late Donald L. and Josephine M. (McClellan) Kern.

A 1966 graduate of Pennridge High School, Perkasie, PA, she attained her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, TX, in 1970, and her Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA.

A clinical social worker, Karen worked in various capacities including Vice President and Director of Mental Health Services for over 50 years at Penn Foundation, Sellersville, PA.

She was a member of the Board of Directors and Past Chairman of the Network of Victim Assistance (NOVA) of Bucks County.

An avid Philadelphia Eagles Football fan, Karen was a tennis enthusiast and dedicated walker.  She especially enjoyed traveling particularly to destinations of South America, Central America, Southeast Asia and Africa over the years.

Surviving with her husband are a brother, David J. Kern and his wife Karen Vaccaro, of Philadelphia, PA; and a nephew, Derek Kern, of Charleston, SC.

Karen was a mentor, a scholar, an athlete, a wife, a sister, an aunt, a great friend and a guide for many through life.  She was so loving and forgiving.  Her light shines brightly on us all. (as shared by Karen's friends, colleagues and family)
