Joyce C. Detweiler, of Perkasie, PA, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2025, at the Community at Rockhill, Sellersville, PA. She was 85.
She was the loving wife of the late C. Dale Detweiler, until his passing on March 25, 2001, and the loving long-time companion of George L. Gilbert, of Perkasie.
Born in Perkasie, she was the daughter of the late J. Walter Sr. and Catherine R. (Gross) Hockman. She was a 1958 graduate of Pennridge High School, Perkasie.
Joyce was known as the "voice of Grand View Hospital", where she worked as the switchboard operator for 53 years until retiring in 2020.
She was a former member of St. Andrew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perkasie.
Joyce loved to travel, especially to the Caribbean and snowmobiling trips to New York and Canada. Social by nature, she enjoyed sunbathing and floating in her pool as well as walking her dog at Lenape Park.
She is survived by a son, David A. Detweiler and his wife Julie L., of Sellersville, PA; three grandchildren, Erin Belcher and her husband Brendan, Jonas Detweiler and Emma Kennedy; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James G. Detweiler, on January 11, 2022; a grandson, Paul Detweiler, on June 13, 2013; and two brothers J. Walter Hockman, Jr., D.D.S., and Donald Hockman.
The Family will receive friends at a Calling Period from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, December 12, 2025, at the Suess-Gahman Funeral Home & Crematory, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, PA.
Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family in St. Andrew's Union Cemetery, Perkasie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Paul Detweiler Memorial Scholarship Fund at Gettysburg College, 300 N. Washington Street, P. O. Box 423, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
