Josephine Yvonne "John" Paulovic left this world on April 25th, 2026, after an abrupt and very brief bout of liver cancer. With 50 years of recovery in Alcoholics Anonymous, service to others was one of the most important things to her, and she served those around her right up to the moment she died. Speaking of acceptance, making peace, and letting go, she was more worried about her friends and family than herself and died fearlessly with an open heart and open arms to Jesus Christ.
Josephine was a talented, self-taught artist and musician. In the 80's she told stories and played music for tourists on the barges along the Delaware Canal. She played music at John and Peter's in New Hope and was in countless bands. She even wrote a song for Hank Williams Jr. called Doc Holiday. Later in life she proudly ran the photography department darkroom at Bucks County Community College for nearly 20 years.
Her art took many forms from sculpture and drawing to welding and building boats and cigar box guitars. There was no instrument Josephine couldn't play, and there was nothing she couldn't build.
Josephine loved her friends and family dearly, taking enormous pride in her children and grandchildren. Most of those who were close to her knew that if you were her friend, you were our family. We are grateful for all those she has brought into our lives.
She is survived by four children: Gideon Paulovic and his wife Dr. Olga Paulovic, of Columbia, SC; Noah Paulovic, of Vienna, VA; Amber Paulovic and her life partner Chris Lenzo, of Gilbertsville, PA; and Lily Paulovic and her husband Matt Wecker, of Sellersville, PA; a stepson, Peter Vogel and his wife Monica, of Ewing, NJ; several other stepchildren; seven grandchildren, Ava, Jackson, Maxine, Maverick, Akiva, Frida, and Eva; a great-grandchild, Canaan; a sister, Tasha Paulovic, of Tampa, FL; and Josephine’s life partner, Karin Vogel, of Hampton, NJ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Alfred Paulovic.
Josephine will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was one of a kind in every sense - fiercely authentic, a relentless sense of humor, and impossible to forget. There was no one else like her. The ethereal’s gained a legend.
