It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Josephine L. (Small) Hamburger, of Sellersville, PA, on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospital – Grand View Campus, Sellersville, PA. She was 90.

            She was the devoted wife of 56 years of the late Joseph G. Hamburger until his passing on June 18, 2011.

            Born in Sellersville, PA, on May 3, 1936, Josephine was the daughter of the late Stephen and Mary (Hegedus) Small. She was a 1954 graduate of Souderton High School, Souderton, PA.

            After working as a homemaker and raising her four children, she sewed Dudley Sports baseballs from home. Then, she worked for the Jacques DeLoux Factory, Sellersville, PA, and later at her brothers-in-law’ (Charlie Biehn, Harry Maurer and Gene Lang) dry cleaning businesses, Charlie’s Cleaners, Lansdale, PA, and Gentle Cleaners, Souderton, PA. Following that, she was employed for a number of years by the Royann Diner, Sellersville, and Hess’s Department Store, Quakertown, PA. She retired in 2001 as an office clerk for Suburban Propane, Montgomeryville, PA, where she worked for 10 years.

            Josephine was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville, PA, where she was active with the Mother’s Guild, and notably created the group’s emblem. She also was a member of the Sellersville Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary.

            Very artistic in nature, she was known for her delicious apple pies. Her faith and dedication to her church, husband and family was her highest priority, and her hard work was recognized by all who knew her.

            Josephine is lovingly remembered by her four children, Christine Nyce, of Sellersville, PA, Paul Hamburger and his wife Danette, of Columbia Cross Roads, PA, Thomas Hamburger and his wife Brenda, of Perkasie, PA, and Robert Hamburger and his wife Darlene, of Sellersville, PA. Her legacy lives on through her 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Mary Maurer, of Souderton, PA. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Elsie Biehn.

            Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 N. Main Street, Sellersville, PA, where family and friends may call from 9:00 to 10:15 AM. Interment will follow in the adjacent St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 N. Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960 or Sellersville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, P. O. Box 315, Sellersville, PA 18960.
