John B. McCormick, formerly of Bedminster Twp., PA, passed away of complications following a short illness on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at the Lutheran Community at Telford, Telford, PA . He was 88.

            He was the loving husband of Joanna (Mason) McCormick. The couple had celebrated their 41st Wedding Anniversary on June 29, 2026.

            Born in Loris, SC on August 5, 1937, he was the son of the late John and Hedy Mae “Birdie” (Byrd) McCormick.

            He attained his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Hawaii following his service in the U. S. Navy.

            John served his country proudly with devotion for 35 years. He spent 20 years in the U. S. Navy followed by 15 years with the U. S. Department of State where, besides Washington D.C., he was posted to the embassies in Nouachatt, Mauritania; Nairobi, Kenya; and Brussels, Belgium. Joanna accompanied him to the latter two embassies.

            Upon his retirement in 1998, he and Joanna returned to their family farm in Bedminster, where they happily tended to the large farmhouse, the barn and the fields.

            John was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Deep Run, Perkasie, PA.

            In addition to his love for gardening with his wife, he used his talents in fixing things and renovating their farm, home and barn.

            Surviving with his wife is a nephew, Kevin McCormick, of Wilmington, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Wesley McCormick.

            A Memorial Service to honor John will be held at a later date.

            Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Presbyterian Church of Deep Run, 16 Irish Meetinghouse Road, Perkasie, PA 18944.
