John
Markley
April 13, 1930 – February 4, 2024
John Markley, 93, of Quakertown, passed away at St. Luke's Upper Bucks Hospital on February 4, 2024.
Born in Sellersville, PA, John was a loving son of Eugene F. and Emma (Leister) Markley.
John was an assistant caretaker at Jerusalem Almont Cemetery where he dug graves and during the wintertime cleared all of the snow.
He tried to grow a mustache like his dad's, but one night it itched so much that he got up and shaved it off, declaring, "That's not for me!"
John spent twenty-three years working as a topper and a pinker at Lutz's Pant Factory, but they closed because labor was cheaper in the South.
When he wasn't working, John played the accordion with a band at Kellers Church. John also enjoyed doing puzzles, playing BINGO, and watching television- especially baseball.
He was a lifetime member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Almont.
John is survived by his nephew, Raymond Geiger and his wife Patricia of Sparks, NV, and his niece, Barbara Hunsberger and her husband Monroe of Sellersville. He is preceded in death by his sister, Emma Geiger.
