John C. Kates, formerly of Hatfield, PA, passed away Friday, August 21, 2026, at the Southeastern Veterans’ Center, Spring City, PA. He was 78.

            Born December 11, 1947 in Lansdale, PA, he was the son of the late Linford L. and Mary Gloria (Tymchyn) Kates. He was a 1965 graduate of North Penn High School, Lansdale, PA.

            John was preceded in death by his brother, Linford H. Kates with whom he shared a wonderful childhood filled with many memories and adventures with cousins on the family farm.

            He was a proud U. S. Army Veteran.

            John owned and operated K-Stat Static Control Products for many years until retiring.

            An avid hunter and fisherman, John loved spending time with his brother Lin and their Uncle John at the cabin in Erie where they never missed a deer season. John also enjoyed golfing and watching baseball. In his free time, he was fond of socializing at various local gun clubs and working in his garden.

            He is survived by a daughter, Michelle S. Manus, of Lansdale, PA; four grandaughters, Annaliese, Avery, Annabella, and Ayda; a sister-in-law, Susan Kates, of Dallas, TX; a niece, Allyson (Kates) Vaughn; and a nephew, Garett Kates.

            His Funeral Services will be announced at a later date.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Southeastern Veterans’ Center, One Veterans Drive, Spring City, PA 19475.
