John R. Henning, 76, of Sellersville, PA, entered the presence of his Lord on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at the Lutheran Community at Telford, in Telford, PA.

He was the beloved husband of Joyce (Taylor) Henning who would have celebrated 47 years of marriage on August 25th of this year.

Born in Sellersville, PA, John was a son of the late Paul S. “Chick” and Helen (Moyer) Henning.

John was a 1968 graduate of Souderton Area High School, where he excelled at football and baseball. He later graduated from Philadelphia Biblical University with a degree in Bible. Because of his humility, friendliness and work ethic, John was a valued employee at Bergey’s Inc., Case Power & Equipment, SMS and concrete Unlimited. These experiences prepared John to become the owner and operator of John R. Henning Erie Insurance, which he started in 1996. John grew his business for 20 years with a reputation of treating each client with honesty, integrity and respect.

In John’s spare time, he enjoyed family gatherings, his loving grandchildren and attending their athletic events as well as golfing with friends and family, and yearly trips Long Beach Island which were cherished and memorable times. John was always available to help others. John was a part of Calvary Church of Souderton for 40 years. For many years John hosted a major men’s event, the Breakfast Bowl. John’s empathetic heart equipped him to be the ideal GriefShare leader at Calvary for over 16 years. He was also a valet, mentor to several men, and a helper for years at Kidfest, John was a local leader of Christian Businessmen Connection (CBMC) for over 30 years, and on the board Fellowship of Christian Athletes for 20 years. He also served on boards at Joni and Friends and Plumstead Christian School.

In addition to his devoted wife Joyce, he is survived by his loving children, daughter Jessica Burg and her husband Bob of Perkasie, PA and his son John Jacob (Jake) Henning of Lansdale, PA. John is also survived by his siblings, twin brother James Henning and his wife Barbara of Souderton, PA. Douglas Henning and his wife Julie of Souderton, PA, Lydia Clemmer and her husband Gerry also of Souderton, PA. He is also survived by his wonderful grandchildren Scarlet, Blake and Bryce and many loving nieces and nephews. John is predeceased by his brother Paul “Chick” Henning.

A Memorial service with visitation will be held on Friday July 10, 2026, at Calvary Church, 820 PA-113, Souderton, PA 18964, at 11:30 AM. The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 11:00. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
