Clayton Hensel
November 8, 1932 – July 28, 2023
John Clayton "Jack" Hensel, of Souderton, PA, and formerly of The Villages, FL, passed away Friday, July 28, 2023, at his home. He was 90.
He was the loving husband of Sandra K. (Vogt) Hensel. The couple had just celebrated their 24th Wedding Anniversary on July 23, 2023. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret (McCann) Hensel on January 23, 1996.
Born in Paradise, PA, he was the son of the late Fred F. and Mildred C. (Stauffer) Hensel. A 1950 graduate of Hilltown High School, Blooming Glen, PA, he was a proud U. S. Marine Corps Veteran of the Korean War with a rank of Sergeant.
Jack began his career with Safeguard Business Systems in 1957, having served as plant manager at the company's Lansdale and upper management at Fort Washington, PA, locations. He also was integral in establishing other locations for the company across the United States and abroad during his tenure, eventually retiring in 1989 after over 30 years. Following his retirement from Safeguard, he worked for Tri Star Data Systems until 1994.
He was a member of St. Andrew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perkasie.
Jack was a member of the Perkasie Historical Society, Perkasie, and Generations of Indian Valley, Souderton. He was a former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose No. 1539, Sellersville, PA. An avid golfer, he especially enjoyed traveling to Ireland on golf trips. He loved to read, particularly American History, and woodworking.
A travel enthusiast, Jack was especially fond of cruising to favorite destinations of Hawaii and Alaska. He also traveled to Ireland, the American Queen Cruise on the Mississippi and various islands in the Caribbean. He was a dedicated fan of the Philadelphia Phillies Baseball as well as the Philadelphia Eagles Football Teams. He also enjoyed boating and spending time at Lake Nockamixon.
Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Kimberly D. Triol and her wife Petrina DiOrio, of Deer Lodge, MT, and Tricia L. Pope and her husband Jason, of Northeast Harbor, ME; twin granddaughters, Catherine and Jane Pope; a sister, Jean Lewis and her husband Wilmer, of Souderton; and several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. In addition to his first wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Renner, and a brother, Charles Hensel.
His Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at St. Andrew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 20 Dill Avenue, Perkasie, PA, where family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
