Barron
August 20, 1942 – August 1, 2022
John A. Barron, of Telford and formerly of Warrington, PA, passed away Monday, August 1, 2022, at Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Twp., PA. He was 79.
He was the loving husband of Elizabeth "Betty" (Mood) Barron. The couple had celebrated their 58 th Wedding Anniversary on June 13, 2022.
Born in Shamokin, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Clara (Shargay) Barron. A 1960 graduate of Shamokin High School, he attained his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from Bucknell University in 1965.
Mr. Barron was employed as a history teacher for the Upper Moreland School District at Upper Moreland High School, Willow Grove, PA, for over 30 years until retiring in 1996. During his tenure at the high school, he served as the Head Football Coach as well as the Varsity Club Supervisor, both for 20 years. He also served as Assistant Track Coach and Assistant Baseball Coach for a number of years.
Following his retirement as an educator, he worked as a driver for Blue Moon Acres, Buckingham, PA, delivering products to New York City until retiring in 2003. Notably, he was making deliveries to the World Trade Center in New York City on September 11, 2001.
Mr. Barron was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Jamison, PA, where he served on the Church Council, taught Sunday school, sang in the Church Choir and volunteered extensively with various church committees and projects. Recently, he attended Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perkasie, PA.
A dedicated sports enthusiast and Philadelphia sports fan, he will be remembered for attending all of the high school sporting events but especially for attending his grandchildren's sporting and other events over the years. He loved playing family games, working puzzles and reading.
Surviving with his wife are three children, Kathleen B. Guelzow and her husband Michael, Colonel Timothy Paul Barron, D.O. and his wife Lieutenant Colonel Amy Jane Asato, M.D. and Judith L. Barron and her fiancé Donald Meskers, all of Perkasie, PA; seven grandchildren, Kathryn, Hope, Emma, Silas, John, Molly and Clara; and a sister Maryanne Symonsoki, of New Jersey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Barron.
His Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2100 York Road, Jamison, PA, where family and friends may call from 1:00 to 3:00 PM.
