Obituary

           James H. Rupp, formerly of Perkasie, PA, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2026, at Phoebe Richland Health Care Center, Richlandtown, PA. He was 95.

            He was the loving husband of 65 years to the late Orchys K. (Kramer) Rupp until her passing on August 10, 2020.

            Born in York, PA, he was the son of the late Harry W. and Meredith F. (Spangler) Rupp. A 1950 graduate of William Penn Sr. High School, York, he attained his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology & Chemistry from Albright College, Reading, PA.

            He was a proud U. S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, having served active duty with the Faculty Company and Special Troops Battalion from November 1954 until his honorable discharge in November1956. He also was a member of the volunteer band and glee club, performing for parades and service club functions for the Medical Training Center at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, throughout his enlistment. He continued his service with the U. S. Army Reserves until being honorably discharged in November 1962.

            Mr. Rupp was employed as a Junior High School Science Teacher for the Quakertown Community School District, Quakertown, PA, for over 32 years until retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Pennsylvania State Teachers Union.

            He was a member of the former First United Methodist Church, Perkasie, PA, and served as the Financial Secretary for the South Perkasie Evangelical Cemetery.

            A member of the Perkasie Historical Society, Mr. Rupp volunteered with the Pennridge FISH Organization for many years. He loved music and played the flute, piccolo and piano. He was also talented in oil painting.

            He is survived by four children, Gerald J. Rupp and his wife Wendy, of Quakertown, PA, Carol A. Herd and her husband Timothy, of State College, PA, Joanne M. Kolb and her husband Charles, of Coopersburg, PA, and Karen L. Rupp, of Bethlehem, PA; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis J. Snyder.

            His Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 5, 2026, at the Suess-Gahman Funeral Home & Crematory, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, PA, where family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment with military honors will follow in the South Perkasie Evangelical Cemetery, Perkasie.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pennridge FISH Organization, P. O. Box 9, Perkasie, PA 18944.
