Keating, Jr.
June 7, 1928 – August 11, 2024
James W. Keating, Jr., of Sellersville, PA, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at Independence Court, Quakertown, PA. He was 96.
He was the loving husband of Margaret E. "Peg" (Evans) Keating. The couple celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary on January 22, 2024.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late James W. Sr. and Catherine T. (Trindle) Keating.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, serving with the 325th Tank battalion, Company A as an instructor at headquarters Armored Combat Training Center, Camp Irwin, CA.
Mr. Keating worked as a Pipefitter, Mechanic and Forman for the Met-Pro Corporation, Harleysville for 31 years, retiring in 1990.
He was a member of the German-Hungarian Club, Hilltown, PA and the German-American Social Club, Lansdale, PA. Jim was good with working with his hands and could fix almost anything. He enjoyed building wooden model ships, fishing, NASCAR races and going to car shows. He loved going out for breakfast regularly and meeting new people. But most of all he enjoyed spending quality time with his family.
Surviving with his wife are his children, Paul Herman Keating and his companion Kathy Smith, of Richlandtown, PA, Sheree Robin Fravel and her husband Robert, of Albrightsville, PA, Kathy Lynn Butrica, of Fleetwood, PA, Danieleia "Dana" Kinker and her husband Michael, of Hellertown, PA, Dawn Jeanette Smith, of London, KY and Kay E. Bukta and her husband James, of Quakertown, PA; 11 grandchildren, Jason Trotter and his wife Angela, Amy Sharp and her companion Justin Bencsik, Laura Gettings and her husband Thomas, Steven Butrica and his Fiancé Sabrina Woolf, Nichole Lynn and her husband Jason, Valerie Chapman and her husband KC, David Kinker, Kelly Kinker and her fiancée Zack Talbert, Angela Curry and her husband Tim, Tiffany Pfister and Allison Pierson and her husband William; 27 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Joseph Keating and a grandson, William Smith.
His Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2024 from 11:30 AM - 3:00 PM at the Perkasie Firehouse, 100 N. 5th Street, Perkasie, PA . Graveside services were held on Friday, August 16, 2024 at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Philadelphia, PA.
Arrangements are by the Suess-Gahman Funeral Home & Crematory, Perkasie, PA.
