Hockman
October 27, 1935 – March 12, 2024
James H. Hockman, formerly of Perkasie, PA, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at the Community at Rockhill, West Rockhill Twp., PA, where he resided since 2017. He was 88.
He was the loving husband of Helen M. (Helf) Hockman. The couple had celebrated their 68th Wedding Anniversary on September 17, 2023.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late H. Paul and Elizabeth (Wismer) Hockman. He spent childhood summer vacations in the family cottage at Perkasie Park.
A 1953 graduate of Frankford High School, Philadelphia, he attained his Engineering Certificate from Penn State University in 1958.
Mr. Hockman's first job at the former U.S. Gauge, Sellersville, PA, led to taking his dream of moving to Perkasie in 1953. Short-term employment there resulted in his becoming employed by Link-Belt, Colmar, PA, in 1955, as an engineer and then as a food handling sales specialist. The FMC Corp. Material Handling Systems purchased Link-Belt, resulting in his promotion to Assistant Manager of General Industry Sales in 1971. In 1976, he became Product Manager for Water Screens and Wastewater Equipment involving international travel. He was employed for 35 years and retired in 1990 through an early retirement program.
A member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Doylestown, PA, he was a former member of Doylestown Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder, and a former member of Peace Tohickon Lutheran Church, Perkasie, where he taught Sunday School.
A 32nd Degree Mason with the Lehigh Consistory, Allentown, PA, Mr. Hockman was a member of the Shiloh-MacCalla Masonic Lodge No. 558, Souderton, PA.
He enjoyed working on do-it-yourself projects and home repair in his free time. And, he especially loved his poodles.
Surviving with his wife are a son, Kenneth B. Hockman and his life-time partner Trish Moyer, of East Rockhill Twp., PA; and a sister, Gloria Jacobs. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert N. Hockman, on October 19, 2001, and a sister, Grace Jacobs.
His Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 18, 2024, at the Community at Rockhill Multi-Purpose Room, 3250 State Road, Sellersville, PA, where family and friends may call from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. Interment will be private in St. Stephen's United Church of Christ Cemetery, Perkasie.
