James R. Barndt, Jr, of Perkasie, PA, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024 in Doylestown Hospital.  He was 80.

He was the loving husband of Faye L. (Haberle) Barndt.  The couple celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary on June 24, 2023.

Born in Lansdale, PA, he was the son of the late Esther (Dunn) Barndt.   He was a 1961 graduate of Central Bucks High School, Doylestown, PA.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in New York as an aircraft electrical repairman from 1962 to 1965 and remaining in the reserves until 1967.

Jim worked as a steel worker for Leonard Kunkin Associates, Souderton, PA for 26 years until the plant's closing in 2003.  Prior to that, he worked for 10 years building and installing pools for Sylvan Pools, Doylestown, PA.  He and his wife also owned a small farm where they raised steers, sheep and pigs over the years.  He also enjoyed gardening and fishing.

An avid deer hunter, he also took trips to Montana, Maine, Newfoundland and Quebec in Canada, hunting elk, caribou, moose and bear. He loved his 1946 red Ford Coupe, taking it to car shows and car cruises. He also enjoyed model railroading, having his own HO scale layout.

Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Julie Ann Swoyer and her husband Jamie, of Allentown, PA and a granddaughter, Jenna J. Swoyer, of Allentown, PA.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Barndt.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
