Hunsberger
June 23, 1941 – August 7, 2024
J. Glenn Hunsberger, of Telford, PA and formerly of Perkasie, PA, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at the Lutheran Community at Telford, Telford, PA. He was 83.
He was the loving husband of Carolyn L. (Schmell) Hunsberger. The couple just celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on June 6, 2024.
Born in Sellersville, PA, he was the son of the late Monroe N. and Mabel (Gahman) Hunsberger.
He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War, serving from 1963 to 1967, 18 of those months in the Philippines.
Glenn worked as a cement truck driver, delivering for Allied Concrete and Supply, West Point, PA for 15 years until retiring in 2012. Prior to that, he worked for Nyce Crete Company, Lansdale, PA for 25 years. He was a member of the Teamsters Union, Local 384, Norristown, PA.
He was a member of Calvary Church Souderton, where he taught children's Sunday school, was an usher for over 50 years, was active with the Boys Brigade and was on the grounds crew.
Glenn was a member of the Grundsow Lodge No. 9, Dublin, PA. He also volunteered at Haycock Camping Ministries, Kintnersville, PA, where he helped with the mowing and light maintenance. In his free time, he enjoyed taking care of his lawn, reading, taking walks and watching his grandchildren play sports.
Surviving with his wife are two children, Ret. Colonel Michael G. Hunsberger and his wife Gina, of St. Charles, MO and Karen L. Kling and her husband Michael, of Perkasie, PA; three grandchildren, Brett and Gavin Kling and Emma Hunsberger; four brothers, Monroe Hunsberger and his wife Barbara, of Sellersville, David Hunsberger and his wife Melissa, of Lebanon, NH, Titus Hunsberger and his wife Diane, of Lancaster, PA and Mark Hunsberger and his wife Linda, of Hudson, WI; four sisters, Lorraine Christophel and her husband Robert, of Kalamazoo, MI, Mabel Myers and her husband Norman, of Perkasie, Pearl Yoder, of Wellman IA and Edith Randolph, of Sellersville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Millard, Nelson and Lester Hunsberger and a sister, Emma Jane Anderson, as well as an infant sister and brother, Marie and Merrill.
His memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Calvary Church Souderton, 820 Route 113, Souderton, PA, where the family will receive family and friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will be held privately in Calvary Church Souderton Cemetery.
