J. Walter
Hockman, Jr., D.D.S.

He was the beloved husband of Eileen (Hager) Hockman. The couple had celebrated their 37th Wedding Anniversary on May 27, 2017.
Born in Bristol, PA, he was the son of the late J. Walter, Sr. and Catherine R. (Gross) Hockman. He was a 1946 graduate Sell-Perk High School. He continued his education at Mulhenburg University where he graduated in 1949. He attended Temple University Dental School from 1949 to 1953. Dr. Hockman served with the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1953-1955. Dr. Hockman practiced family dentistry in Perkasie from 1955 until his retirement.
Dr. Hockman was a past president and member of the Perkasie Lions where he received the Melvin Jones Fellow Award, the highest honor to be bestowed upon a member. He was a past school board member for Bedminster and East Rockhill Townships, board member of the Goshenhoppen Historians for several years, and Mayor of Green Lane for 17 years.
Walt could relate to everyone. He loved to garden and go fishing in Canada. He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan. He and his wife were antique collectors for many years, and above all he loved his family.
Surviving with his wife are two sons, W. Craig Hockman and his wife Pam, of White Haven, PA, and Randy B. Hockman and his wife Mary Alice, of White Haven, PA; four grandchildren, Ursula Brozena and her husband Ryan, Spencer Hockman, Emily Catherine Hockman, and Tina Moran; a sister, Joyce Detweiler of Perkasie, PA and her companion George Gilbert of Sellersville, PA; and numerous nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by a brother, Donald R. Hockman, of Winchester, VA.
Family and friends are invited to call from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, June 16, 2017, at the Perkasie Fire House, 100 N. Fifth Street, Perkasie, PA 18944. A Lions Club Memorial Service will be celebrated at 6:30 PM. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Paul D. Detweiler Memorial Scholarship Fund, Gettysburg College, 300 North Washington Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325
Arrangements are by the Bernard Suess Funeral Home, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie.
