Hildegard P Lamparter died on Dec 23rd, 2023 at the Lutheran Community at Telford, PA. She was born Sept 2, 1925 in Mössingen, Germany above her grandparents' bakery. She was the daughter of Wilhelm F and Barbara A Preisendanz. Her father came to America when her mother was still pregnant with her and worked two jobs until in 1927 he had enough money saved to bring his family to the U.S. Hildegard grew up in the Kensington section of Philadelphia where her parents established the Square Deal Bakery.
Hildegard was employed as a bookkeeper for the Lutheran Ministerium of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia where she met Rev. Robert M. Lamparter. They were married on Feb 12, 1949, a union that lasted 61 years until his death in 2010. She worked alongside her husband in parishes in South Pottstown, Kingston, Phoenixville, Souderton, and Woxall, Pennsylvania and was a Sunday school teacher, children's choir director, and member of Lutheran Church Women. For 15 years she worked as the secretary at West Broad St. Elementary School in Souderton, a job she truly enjoyed. After retiring, they moved to Luther Acres in Lititz, PA where they resided for over 30 years. Following a health setback in 2020, she moved to the Lutheran Community at Telford, PA. Until her setback, she was a very social person and had a gift with words. She wrote two full length books – her memoirs as an immigrant and pastor's wife, and completed her husband's memoirs after his death.
Hildegard was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister Maria P Schmid. She is survived by her son Robert W Lamparter, MD and his wife Carol M Lamparter, MD of Selinsgrove, PA, daughter Satya Barbara Jaech and husband Rev. Richard Jaech of Tacoma, WA and daughter Priscilla L. Landis and husband Ray of Harleysville, PA, grandchildren Matthew Lamparter, Andrew and Jesse Landis, Sarah Landis Hancock, and Nicholas Jaech, and greatgrandchildren Isa and Edgar Lamparter, Becca, Ethan, and Owen Landis, and Caroline Hancock.
Services will be held on Thursday January 4th at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Telford, PA with a visitation at 10:00AM and funeral at 11:00AM. Interment will be at Old Goschenhoppen Cemetery, Woxall, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Hildegard's memory may be made to Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 308 Petersburg Road, Lititz, PA 17543.
Arrangements are made by the Sadler-Suess Funeral Home, Telford, PA.
