May 15, 1930 – August 5, 2025
Henry K. Tyson, of Souderton and formerly of Quakertown, PA, passed away Tuesday August 5, 2025, at Dock Terrace, Lansdale, PA. He was 95.
He was the loving husband of the late Mary Ellen "Dolly" (Gruver) Tyson until her passing on April 30, 2024, having been together 73 ½ years and married 72 ½ years.
Born in Skippack, PA, he was the son of the late Harry W. and Mae (Kulp) Tyson.
A member of the Teamsters Union, Philadelphia, PA, Mr. Tyson began his 55-year professional career in truck driving as an employee of the former North Penn Transfer Co., Lansdale, PA, before working for the Faith Baptist Church, Sellersville, PA, as a school bus mechanic and bus pastor. Then, he went on to work for the Mushroom Transport Co., Fairless Hills, PA, for a number of years before his employment with the Yellow Freight Co., Norristown, PA, where he worked until retiring in 1992. Following his retirement, he followed his love of NASCAR by operating Tyson Race Tours.
Faithful to his church with a deep commitment to serve the Lord, Mr. Tyson was a member of the Renew Bible Church, Perkasie, PA.
An avid hunter, he was a NASCAR racing enthusiast. In his free time, he enjoyed working on his vehicles and was known as a "neat freak" keeping his home, yard, cars and everything else spotless.
Most of all, Mr. Tyson will be remembered for his love for his family and his attentiveness to his wife and children.
He is survived by four children, Bonnie Lou Tyson, of Pennsburg, PA, Darlene Kay Belac and her husband Marc, of Green Lane, PA, Mary Lynette Culpepper and her husband Thomas, of Mechanicsville, VA, and James Henry Tyson and his wife Evelyn, of Red Hill, PA; 12 grandchildren, A. Dale Jr., Stephanie Anne, James, Rachel, Rebecca, Erin, Sara, Silas, Levi, Joey, Jarrick and Alisha; 12 great-grandchildren, Ashley, Christiana, Elijah, David, Jonathan, Ethan, Emily, Dominic, Amelia, Liam, Orion and McKenzie; a great-great-grandson, Carter; a great-great-grandbaby due to be born March 4, 2026; and two brothers, Willard Tyson, of Souderton, PA, and Jacob Tyson and his wife Patricia, of York, PA.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Leanne Tyson, in infancy, a grandson, Chris, two brothers, Paul and Laverne Tyson, and two sisters, Margaret Tyson and Catherine Clemmer.
Family and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Services to be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at the Summit View Auditorium of Souderton Mennonite Homes, 207 W. Summit Street, Souderton, PA, where family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Perkasie, PA.
