June 24, 1933 – June 21, 2023
Helen S. Grey, 89, of Harleysville, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday June 21, three days before her 90th birthday.
Helen met her first husband Charles (Dick) Shearer and married in 1953, they moved to Fall River Mass. Where Dick was serving in the U.S. Navy. Dick passed away in 1985 . She married Frank Grey in 1991 and they spent time traveling the country together before Franks passed away in 1998.
Born in Richlandtown, Helen was a daughter of the late W. Paul and Martha (Gehman) Frankenfield. Helen was an active member in her church, where she, played piano and was very active in bible study, she loved to sing in the church choir as well as the Zion Choral Society. Helen loved to read and spend time knitting, often donating her prayer shawls to those in need. Helen also volunteered at the church food pantry and Grandview Hospice. Helen was also an avid supporter of the Philadelphia Phillies Baseball team.
She was a graduate of the former Hilltown High School class of 1951.
Helen was employed by St. Peter's UCC, Perkasie, and Zion Mennonite Church Souderton, she then went to work for the as an administrative assistant and later was employed at the Pennridge School District, before retiring in 1995.
Helen is survived by her sons: Michael Shearer and his wife Juneann of Norristown, Tim Shearer and his wife Tracey, of Perkasie, daughters; Sandy Shearer of Allentown, and Janine Queen of Quakertown, six grandchildren; Travis Shearer, Crystal Heim and her husband Edward, Stephen Queen and his wife Susan, Lisa Snyder and her husband Jon. Philip Shearer and Jeffrey Shearer, Five great-grandchildren; Colin , Allan, Madilyn, Monroe, Olivia and another baby due in August. Helen is also survived by her sister Ruth Mumbauer, and her husband Wayne of Harleysville.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday June 28, 2023 in the Chapel at the Peter Becker Community, 800 Maple Avenue, Harleysville, PA. 19438. Family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until time of service in the Chapel. The interment will be held privately in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler, PA. 19002 .
